Since World War I, companies within Transformco® have been proud supporters of America’s military and those who have served. Fast-forward nearly 100 years, and our commitment to our veteran associates and their families is as strong as ever.

Sears® and Kmart® are Patriot Award recipients from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), proud partners of the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) and coalition members of the Veteran Jobs Mission.

Military Benefits

Along with our comprehensive benefits program, military servicemen and women also have additional benefits. The most notable is our military Pay Differential and Benefits Continuation program. In September 2004, we extended our military pay differential (fills the gap between military pay and employer pay) and benefits continuation to 60 months for eligible employees called to duty in the Reserves or National Guard. Serving your country shouldn't come with a pay cut, and we'll make sure it doesn't.

Military Pay Differential & Benefits Continuation

While deployed, eligible employees can:

  • Continue participating in our life insurance, medical and dental programs.
  • Receive annual merit pay increases, incentive pay.

We hold a comparable position for deployed employees for up to five years. We have encouraged and supported employees serving in the armed forces for decades.

  • Records indicate that we have provided support to employees serving in the military since 1916.
  • Our pay differential was first instituted in 1990 for Operation Desert Shield-Storm.

Employer Support For The Guard & Reserve (ESGR) Statement Support

We signed a Five Star Statement of Support of the ESGR, publicly demonstrating support for employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

The five star level of support signifies that we:

  • Reviewed our human resources policies to ensure compliance with the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Acts Law.
  • Promote training for managers and supervisors to effectively manage associates who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
  • Adopted polices and programs that are “Above & Beyond” what is required by the USERRA Law.
  • Serve as an advocate for associate service in the National Guard and Reserve and we help to promote the mission of ESGR
